Comforting Patients with Character

Problem: Atrial Fibrillation, or AF, is an irregular heartbeat which can lead to increased chances of stroke, heart failure, and other life-threatening conditions. Patients experiencing AF often feel overwhelmed and have lots of questions. The challenge becomes how to provide information in a comforting way, reassuring them they’re not alone and that help is available?

Solution: We collaborated with Abbott and other partners to educate patients and their families with a simple to navigate web-based tool that anyone could access from anywhere. We developed a series of educational content for a multigenerational patient focused microsite that included simple, friendly, animated videos explaining AF, living with AF, and available treatment options, as well as a series of real-life patient stories featuring people who were helped by medical teams utilizing Abbott EP products.

Outcome: The initial launch was met with great success. The site was widely adopted by the medical community and has been visited by thousands of patients and their families to help them make informed decisions.
